The KAAI Horizon arrived nestled in a branded dust bag. It’s the perfect, convenient solution for keeping your bag protected and pristine when you’re not using it.

As you pull it out, you’ll notice the five tiny metal feet on the bottom, each one protected by its own silicone cap.

This thoughtful touch instantly sets the tone: durability, longevity, and meticulous attention to detail.

Designed in Antwerp, Belgium (the diamond capital of the world), KAAI draws inspiration from its city’s ever-moving energy and the Art Deco era. Think clean lines, simple geometry, and that kind of elegance that just…lasts.

At first glance, the Horizon feels unmistakably premium and strikes the perfect balance between minimalist design and elevated polish. It’s structured, chic, and somehow both commanding and approachable—the type of bag that says, I’m here for the meeting, but I could also be boarding a plane to Milan.

Functionality: Just pure, structured storage magic

Named after the Dutch word for “quay,” KAAI reflects flowing waters—and their bags are designed to move through life just as fluidly.

While the dedicated, lightly padded 16” laptop sleeve (with a Velcro flap closure) keeps your device secure, it does come with one little drawback: its proximity to the main zipper. To prevent scratches, you’ll need to always be deliberate when sliding your laptop in or out.

There are 11 smart interior compartments (yes, eleven!) for your phone, water bottle, glasses, charging cables, pens—everything has a designated spot, so you’re not digging to the ends of the earth to find them.

The inclusion of a detachable key leash is a small but mighty detail, ensuring you can always find your keys in under five seconds—no more embarrassing hide-and-seek.

For effortless travel, a discreet luggage strap on the back allows the bag to seamlessly transition from the boardroom to the boarding gate, making it the perfect work bag for travel.

And the five little metal feet? They keep the bag grounded (literally). I love that I never have to baby my bag—just use it freely.

The KAAI Horizon is meant to be worn over the shoulder but can also be carried by the handles. The hold is just right; it feels secure and substantial without being bulky. It is however not the most comfortable carry on the shoulder when fully loaded—a small trade-off for all that structure and capacity. 

The Horizon bag captures the same spirit as its namesake: spacious enough to carry what you know you’ll need (goodbye double-shoulder duty), and sturdy enough for what you don’t see coming.

What fits inside? Surprisingly everything.

For a bag that looks so sleek, you’d be surprised by how much you can pack inside. 

I was able to comfortably fit my MacBook Pro, a magazine, a planner, a cosmetic pouch, my LARQ Water bottle, a small umbrella, my wallet, and all the little essentials—phone, keys, chargers, and lip balm—with room to spare. It’s the perfect size for carrying everything you need for a full day of work or a weekend trip without feeling weighed down.

Basically, we never feel like we have to compromise or leave anything behind. 

Colors: The finest Belgian truffles in handbag form

The KAAI Horizon is as of today available in two shades: 

• Suede Espresso – a deliciously warm chocolate brown with tactile richness.
• Soft Touch Black – the eternal classic, polished and versatile. The one I got. 

Both capsule-wardrobe worthy colors strike that sweet spot between professional polish and understated chic.

Care & maintenance: A little TLC is needed

The soft-touch Italian leather requires a bit of TLC. It’s not UV- or water-resistant. Translation? Don’t take it dancing in the rain without a little prep. KAAI recommends a transparent leather care product to protect the surface. This is a small trade-off for the beautiful material. 

The microsuede interior, meanwhile, is refreshingly low-drama—easy to wipe down and keep looking fresh.

Price: It’s a luxury bag, but it promises years of wear.

The biggest size is a touch more compact, fitting a laptop up to 15.6 inches.
