adidas has revived the Intimidation, its 1999 basketball silhouette from the Feet You Wear lineage, and handed the redesign to São Paulo's Guadalupe Store. The GDLP x adidas Intimidation is a collaboration with the Brazilian skate-and-streetwear shop, which has spent more than a decade at the center of Latin American youth culture.

The silhouette matters because its anatomical, foot-shaped midsole tooling became the foundation of the Yeezy 500, one of the defining adidas models of the late 2010s. The Intimidation first arrived in 1999 as a bold, chunky entry in adidas' Feet You Wear basketball range, built around podular cushioning.

Guadalupe's take leans into a rugged, winter-ready finish. A plush, hairy suede wraps the entire upper in a rich, earthy tone, and dark neoprene underlays provide contrast beneath it. The combination reads heavy and organic, closer to a utility boot than to a retro basketball trainer.

Golden co-branded hits on the insole and the heel bring a subtle lift to the earthy palette. Thick rope laces and heavy-duty pull tabs reinforce the boot-like, utilitarian build. It is a tactile remake of a shoe originally designed for the hardwood.

Underfoot, the bulky, sculpted foam midsole of the Feet You Wear range mirrors the organic character of the upper. The podular cushioning that made this tooling famous in the Yeezy lineup returns, and the result is a chunky profile that carries the collaboration's heaviness through to the ground.

Guadalupe, which the release shortens to GDLP, has operated as a central pillar of Latin American youth culture for over a decade. It is described as South America's most influential skate and streetwear destination, and the project turns that retail reputation into a design credit on an archive adidas shoe.

The shoe that built the Yeezy 500

The connection to the Yeezy 500 is the reason this silhouette reads as familiar. Our guide to the best Yeezy shoes dates the 500 to 2018 under the adidas banner, and the Intimidation's foot-shaped, podular sole is the design language that underpinned it.

Where Yeezy rendered that sole in neutral, futuristic tones, Guadalupe pushes the opposite direction. The hairy suede and rope laces frame the sculpted foam midsole as earthy and grounded rather than technical, a re-reading that leans on the silhouette's natural heaviness instead of hiding it.

Adidas ended its Yeezy partnership in October 2022 and sold the last of its stock in late 2024, as we noted in that guide. Reviving the Intimidation under a retail collaboration keeps that podular tooling in circulation without the Ye association.

Our ranking of the Yeezy range puts the Yeezy 350 V2 first, followed by the 700 and the Slide, and every model on it now comes from resale or leftover retailer stock. The Intimidation offers a store-led release that carries the same Feet You Wear lineage.

A utilitarian winter drop

The finish is the story Guadalupe wants told. The hairy suede is textured to the point of being tactile, and the earthy brown tone reads like something built for wet streets rather than a shelf. The source material calls it one of the best tactile suedes seen in a while.

It lands in a crowded collaboration calendar. We have covered adidas' Italia 60s in a truffle-brown suede at €120, and the brown-suede direction now runs through much of the brand's recent output. What sets the Intimidation apart is the chunky FYW sole.

The retro midsole and boot-like upper make it something between a sneaker and a hiking shoe, a look adidas has rarely offered since the Yeezy era. Golden co-branding on the insole and heel is the only flash; the rest of the shoe is deliberately muted and heavy.

In our coverage of style we have tracked how chunky, utilitarian sneakers keep returning to the front of the rotation. The Intimidation arrives as another example, and its direct line to the Yeezy 500 gives it a heritage hook that most utility builds do not have.

Guadalupe's name on an adidas archive model also signals the Three Stripes' interest in regional skate and streetwear hubs beyond North America and Europe. Giving São Paulo's best-known shop a global silhouette shows where adidas is looking for collaborators. Price and release date were not given.
