The late 1990s brought a renaissance, with ready-to-wear, footwear, and handbags reintroduced under Nicolas Ghesquière. In 2001, Ghesquière released the City Bag — initially rejected by executives as “too soft, too unstructured,” then made an instant icon by Kate Moss and a generation after her.
