At its Spring/Summer 2027 presentation on October 4, Miu Miu showed a brand-new collaboration with New Balance: the RC150, an obscure 1990s running model that takes its name from its 150-gram weight. The shoe walked the Palais d'Iéna runway in Paris.

The set was dressed as an arena, with a purple track-inspired floor and bleacher seats. Gigi Hadid walked wearing the sneaker, as did actor Jamie Bell, best known for Billy Elliot. The RC150 is slim, relatively flat and decisively sporty.

What the RC150 looks like

The construction pairs deconstructed technical mesh with suede accents and Miu Miu's signature zigzag stitching. It arrives in retro colorways: blue and white, red and white, blue and yellow, and brown. The silhouette reads as a true racer, low and narrow.

The defining detail is the double lacing. The RC150 carries regular lace-ups plus contrast laces loosely knotted at the toe through external hoops. It is an on-trend flourish, and the brands have not said how many pairs will be made.

The show itself leaned hard into sport. Miuccia Prada again transformed everyday gear into high-fashion pieces, such as Hadid's sports bra worn backwards and paired with an embellished skirt. The RC150 fit straight into that register.

Miu Miu is Miuccia Prada's second house, named after her own nickname, and a sister label to Prada. The sneaker marks the start of a new chapter for a partnership that has run since Spring/Summer 2022.

Until now, every Miu Miu and New Balance release had been a version of the 530. That began with a deconstructed 530 sneaker, then went flat-soled with the 530SL sneaker, the 530 SL mules and the 530 SL ballet flats.

The RC150 breaks that sequence. It is a different silhouette entirely, an under-the-radar racing style rather than the 530. What the RC150 era holds beyond this first shoe has not been announced.

The partnership so far

Last month Miu Miu unveiled new iterations of the best-selling 530 SL collaboration, including a ballet-flat inspired version. In June the house released six new styles of the same shoe, combining technical fabric bases with suede overlays and perforated leather.

New Balance and Miu Miu won Footwear News' 2025 Collaboration of the Year Award, and Chris Davis, New Balance global brand president and chief marketing officer, made the point in 2025 when the pair received their award. Coco Gauff fronts the tie-up, and her special Miu Miu x Coco Gauff New Balance 530 SL was worn at Wimbledon this summer.

Appealing to the modern female consumer is central for both houses.

Davis said Miu Miu stands for the pinnacle of Italian craftsmanship and luxury while being fearless and bold with trend forecasting. The duality, he added, captured the female consumer globally, on-brand and authentically.

Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group's chief marketing officer and head of corporate social responsibility, offered his own account of why the tie-up works. New Balance, he noted, has remained independent for over a century, which is rare in this industry.

"It allows them to think long-term, to prioritize integrity and quality over short-term objectives. That's a philosophy we share at Prada Group, and it's one of the reasons why this partnership feels so aligned," Bertelli said.

In our coverage of style we have followed Miu Miu as a house whose accessories set the pace. Our guide to the most popular Miu Miu bags noted that it-girls all wear the label, and its matelassé nappa features among our Chanel Classic Flap alternatives.

The RC150 era officially begins with a release in February 2027. Pricing has not been disclosed, and neither brand has named the retailers that will carry the first pairs of the shoe.
