They say money talks. Ours is telling us some traditions are worth holding onto. And buying things made well and meant to last, from a family-run brand with an obsessive eye for design and detail, is right at the top of that list.
Sure, tap-to-pay and phone wallets have made the humble bifold look like a relic to the minimalist crowd. But we’re not sold on ditching the real deal just yet. There’s still something to be said for a piece of leather shaped by skilled hands in a Spanish workshop, designed to stay by your side for years.
The Harber London RFID Legacy Bifold Wallet aims to keep that tradition alive, with a modern promise: up to 18 cards, full-sized bills, and coins (or an AirTag) without asking your pocket to pay the price.
With a name like Legacy, this leather wallet has a strong story to prove. Can a classic bifold really offer generous storage without the bloat, backed by craftsmanship you’ll actually care about? Or is it just another standard wallet dressed up in good leather?
I carried it every day for weeks to find out and I tell you everything you need to know in this in-depth review.
Handcrafted with obvious care, the Harber London RFID Legacy Bifold fits cash, cards, and coins into a surprisingly slim silhouette, slipping into a pocket without claiming unnecessary real estate. Treat it well (and don't take “18 cards” as a personal challenge), and it should serve you for years, picking up character along the way. It’s classic leathercraft refined for the modern pocket.

Harber London RFID Legacy Bifold Wallet Review: The classic leather wallet with a modern shield
I have a soft spot for family-run brands that care as much about how something is made as how it looks. Every piece from Harber London is designed in London and handmade in the brand’s own workshop in Spain.
Unboxing: An envelope worth opening
The wallet arrived in an elegant cardstock box with gold lettering, not much bigger than an envelope. First impression? Already made—and I haven’t even seen the leather yet. A pull-strip tears open with a deeply satisfying zip, revealing black tissue paper sealed with a metallic gold seal.
Harber London knows that good taste starts before you even open your wallet.
Opening it feels like receiving a genuinely good gift. And if you happened to buy it for yourself? Even better. No occasion required.
Materials & craftsmanship: Sustainability, stitched by hand
The Legacy Bifold Wallet is made from premium pebbled full-grain leather. Full-grain is the highest leather quality available, left uncorrected, so it keeps its natural strength and character. The pebbled finish adds a fine, raised texture which is more resistant to scratches than smooth leathers. I love that it is meant to age beautifully, developing a unique patina over time.
Look inside and you’ll notice smooth leather accents set against the pebbled grain. It’s a subtle contrast, the kind of detail you only spot once the wallet is in your hand, and it gives an otherwise understated piece a bit of depth.
The leather is a by-product of the food industry, and comes from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group. LWG is the highest environmental standard that requires tanneries to cut water and energy use and limit hazardous chemicals.
The wallet is cut, stitched, and edge-painted by hand in Harber’s workshop in Elche, a town in Spain’s Alicante province with a long tradition of shoemaking and leatherwork. The small workshop runs on solar energy, which I love. It’s good to see craftsmanship and more conscious production go hand in hand.
Between the leather layers sits the RFID-blocking material, sewn in during construction. You’d never know it was there.
Aesthetic & design: The Bifold, minus the excess
At first glance, the Legacy Wallet looks like the bifold your dad or grandad carried for years. Look closer though, and you realize Harber London didn’t just recreate the classic—they put it on a diet. You get all the comfort of a traditional bifold, trimmed of every last bit of excess fat.
Instead of the usual wide landscape format, Harber London opted for a slightly taller, narrower silhouette. The result? A remarkably modern look that slips into your pocket without that awkward brick.
The overall aesthetics is down-to-earth and timeless. The branding is minimal. Harber London’s debossed monogram on the outside and the debossed logo on the inside are barely noticeable. It’s luxury that keeps its voice down, which is exactly how we like it at Luxe Digital.
If you want to give it some extra personality, Harber London offers custom hand-pressed debossing in gold, silver, or blind (a subtle, uncolored stamp), as well as laser engraving for a small upcharge. Stamping your initials onto a wallet is an old tradition, but on a piece named Legacy, it feels entirely earned. It turns a great accessory into a proper heirloom—especially if you’re gifting it. (Just remember: once it’s got initials on it, it’s yours for keeps. No returns.)
Variants & colors: Three timeless shades on the menu
The Harber London RFID Legacy Bifold Wallet serves up three shades: Black, Brown, and Caoba. A short menu, but then, the best restaurants know that a handful of dishes done brilliantly beats a kitchen trying to please everyone.

Caoba

Black is the sharp, no-nonsense classic that goes with just about everything. Brown and Caoba bring a little more warmth, with the promise of developing a characterful patina over time. Caoba, Spanish for mahogany, is the house specialty and the version I picked: a rich, sophisticated dark brown that pays handsome homage to the wallet’s Spanish roots.
Functionality: More, in less
For a wallet with this much headroom, the size feels surprisingly compact. It holds up to 18 cards, which is generous by any standard. Just don’t expect it to stay razor-thin if you fill every slot. Even the cleverest design can’t negotiate with physics.
Personally, I’d stick to 8–10 cards to keep that lovely slim silhouette. And honestly, that’s plenty for most of us!
The layout, though, is where things get interesting.
- Quick-access card slots keep your everyday essentials close at hand.
- A pull tab lets you slide out the cards you use less often, rather than digging around for them. I appreciate this feature more than I expected.
- Interior card slots inside the bill compartment give receipts, business cards, and occasional-use cards a place to go.
- A full-length bill compartment fits US dollars, euros, and pounds sterling.
- A flap-covered coin pocket keeps loose change contained and can also accommodate an AirTag.
That coin pocket might be the most telling detail of all. Coins aren’t exactly central to how many of us pay these days, yet Harber London has kept the compartment and given it another potential use. Slip an AirTag inside, and your wallet becomes easier to locate if it goes missing. It’s a neat bit of repurposing that makes an old-school feature feel surprisingly current.
Then there’s the magnetic closure. A discreet snap keeps the bifold neatly shut instead of letting it fan open in your pocket or bag. There’s a satisfying little click when you close it that is oddly satisfying. One small thing I noticed: the front magnet creates a slight bump in the leather, making it slightly more noticeable than the one at the back. Nothing major, but I do wish the magnets were a little slimmer for an even cleaner finish.
On a more practical note, while contactless chips are immune, keep hotel room keys and legacy magnetic-stripe cards away from the clasp—magnets can be unforgiving.
And the RFID protection? The built-in blocking layer is designed to prevent compatible contactless cards from being read by an unauthorised reader while they’re inside the wallet. It’s an extra layer of privacy, tucked away without adding visible bulk.
Care & maintenance: Aging into its name
The Golden Rule here? Don’t overstuff it. Leather has a memory—it stretches to accommodate whatever you force into it, and once it adapts to an oversized load, there’s no shrinking it back down. Keep your carry lean, and the leather will hold its sharp shape for years, especially with a little TLC.
Wipe your Harber London wallet with a soft, slightly damp cloth when it needs a clean, and work in a little leather conditioner every few months to keep it supple. Keep it away from prolonged sunlight and excess moisture.
Then comes the real payoff: the patina. Full-grain leather isn’t meant to stay showroom-pristine forever. Part of the appeal is watching it pick up a little history of its own, developing a richer tone and a soft sheen with time.
Price: The cost of craftsmanship
At $199, it’s certainly not the cheapest option for your pocket—but given the sheer longevity and craftsmanship on offer, it more than justifies the entry fee.
Consider the math: a wallet is one of the rare objects you touch, use, and rely on multiple times every single day. Very few personal items offer that level of cost-per-use efficiency.
What you’re actually paying for is genuine Spanish leatherwork, pebbled full-grain leather from certified sustainable tanneries, and a layout packed with clever, practical details.
My only real reservation? The warranty. A single-year safety net feels overly conservative for an object literally named Legacy. A longer guarantee would make standing behind that ambitious name feel a whole lot more convincing.

Who is the Harber London RFID Legacy Bifold Wallet best for?
I’d recommend the RFID Legacy Bifold to men who still carry more than a phone: an ID, a few cards, some cash for travel or tipping, and want it all in one well-made place.
It’s a particularly good fit if you value quiet design, appreciate handmade leather, and want an everyday carry that won’t look exhausted after twelve months of service. Plus, that pebbled finish makes it an exceptionally smart pick if you’re notoriously hard on your gear.
It’s also a fail-safe gift. Between the sleek unboxing, optional personalization, and timeless silhouette, the Harber London RFID Legacy Bifold Wallet is a safe bet for a partner, parent, or friend.
That said, if your daily carry tops out at two or three cards and zero cash, move along—a minimalist cardholder will serve you far better without the extra real estate.
