Singapore Island Country Club
Founded in 1891, the Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) started as Singapore’s inaugural golf club. The American Club
The American Club is the rare Singapore club that tells you exactly what it costs. The figure that matters most is the one attached to your passport. An Ordinary membership runs S$32,530 including GST, and it is open only to American and Canadian citizens. The Associate tier, the one anybody else would need, is priced at S$88,888 and is currently closed to new applications.
That leaves most non-North Americans with the Term membership: a one-year place at S$10,286, open to residents who are neither American, Canadian nor Singaporean. Monthly dues run S$260 for a family and S$210 for a single member, and every application goes to the General Committee.
The club opened on 14 September 1948, though the idea had been circulating among American residents since 1932. It now counts more than 11,000 members from over 90 nationalities. The Claymore Hill clubhouse holds dining and retail, a fitness and wellness floor, aquatics, a multi-purpose court and a children’s program that runs most of the week.
Best for: American and Canadian expatriates, by design.

Swiss Club
The Swiss Club started life as a rifle range. Otto Alder and a few friends had been shooting in the forest off Balestier Road, and in June 1871 they formally constituted themselves as the Swiss Rifle Shooting Club of Singapore. That history makes it one of the oldest clubs in the country. The prices make it the most affordable serious door on this list.
Fees are tiered by nationality and paid once, for life. A Swiss citizen joins as an Ordinary member for S$6,500, or S$9,700 for a couple, while everyone else joins as an Associate at S$10,800, or S$16,800 for a family. The monthly subscription is S$133.53 single and S$267.05 for a couple or family, and a twelve-month term option exists but is currently suspended.
The club sits up on Bukit Tinggi, surrounded by rainforest rather than towers, and the facilities run to a pool, a gym, tennis courts and playing fields.
Best for: Families who want the greenery without the six-figure entry.
