More than 16,000 hotel rooms are in Bangkok’s construction pipeline. Every one of them has to be furnished, lit and finished, from the bathroom fittings to the lamp by the bed.

Somebody has to choose all of it. That somebody is a mix of architects, interior designers, developers, hospitality teams and procurement managers, and for three days in late November many of them will be under one roof.

That is the idea behind the fifth edition of FIND – Design Fair Asia. The fair brings international furniture, interiors and design brands to Bangkok to meet the people shaping Southeast Asia’s built environment.

Why Bangkok

The hotel pipeline is only part of the demand. Thailand is also an important market for branded residences, luxury retail, mixed-use developments and wellness-led destinations, and every one of those needs interiors.

The organizers put numbers on it. Thailand accounts for about 26% of Asia’s launched branded-residence supply, with inventory valued at about THB 205 billion (US$6.4 billion). On the retail side, CBRE estimates Thailand’s luxury market at about US$4.4 billion, growing around 5% a year through 2028.

Geography helps too. Thailand lies at the center of mainland Southeast Asia, and Bangkok is a major business, aviation and hospitality hub. A brand that meets the project community here is reaching buyers from across the region, not only from Thailand.

What’s on the show floor

The fair brings international brands together with the professionals who specify their products. The organizers point to furniture, lighting, surfaces, kitchens and bathrooms, decorative products and interior solutions, so a visitor with a hotel lobby to fill and a spa bathroom to fit out can cover both in one trip.

FIND works with the Thailand Interior Designers’ Association (TIDA) and the Thai Furniture Association (TFA), among other industry groups. TIDA brings its own showcase, “Thailand Interior Design and Art by TIDA”, known as TIDA by TIDA.

Its centerpiece explores “Thainess” under the concept “The Sanctuary of Flavours”. Within it sits “The Orbit of Awareness” by Badintra Balankura of Context Studio, presented as a spatial experience at the fair. Balankura won TIDA’s Wellness Design Challenge, “Sensory +1: Reimagine Longevity”.

The FIND Global Summit

Alongside the exhibition, the FIND Global Summit puts more than 70 speakers on stage from architecture, interiors, hospitality, property and the wider built environment. The full program is on the FIND – Design Fair Asia website. It is organized around three pillars, and each one asks a different question of the industry:

  • The Asian Design Authority, “Beyond the Blueprint”. Asia as a design leader rather than a canvas for imported influence, with international studios serving local authorship instead of dictating it.
  • The New Vernacular, “Salvaged. Engineered. Reauthored.” How Southeast Asia reuses and adapts existing structures and materials, mixing heritage, new technology and circular design in cultural, luxury and mixed-use projects.
  • Asia’s Sensory Sanctuaries, “A Way of Living”. How the region’s sensory and material language shapes experience beyond the hotel room, into wellness, branded living and experiential interior architecture.
