Taller bottles sit higher in the pocket than I'd like, which is worth flagging when the rest of the bag does such a good job of keeping everything secure. It's a minor complaint next to everything the Apex gets right, but one to consider if an oversized water bottle is part of your everyday carry.
For your laptop, Troubadour's **CrashPad Cocoon** is more than a simple sleeve. The padded compartment suspends and cushions your device rather than merely wrapping it, adding another layer of protection. My 16-inch MacBook Pro fits comfortably. Troubadour says the sleeve takes laptops up to 17 inches, though I haven't tested one that size.
