## What is a shag haircut?

A shag haircut is a cut layered to lots of different lengths, with the shortest layers at the crown and around your face and longer ones toward the ends. The result is full on top and lighter at the edges.

The layers are textured rather than blunt, and that texture is what makes a cut read as a shag. Stylists take the weight out with point cutting, slide cutting or a razor. The modern shag comes with bangs, often curtain bangs or a choppy fringe that grazes the eyebrows and gets longer at the sides.
